Abstract

|
The basic anatomic feature of mitral atresia is absence of mitral valvular structure, so no blood flows directly from the left atrium into the left ventricle. Coexistent mitral and aortic atresia is named "Hypoplastic left heart syndrome".
We report a 23-day-old male patient with mitral atresia, double outlet right ventricle, perimembranous ventricular septal defect, atrial septal defect and aortic atresia who presented cyanosis and respiratory difficulty. The morphologic features were confirmed by cross-sectional echocardiography and necropsy.
